Kalighat painting or Kalighat Patachitra is a style of Indian painting originated in West Bengal. It was first practiced by a group of specialised scroll painters known as patuas in the vicinity of Kalighat Kali temple in Kolkata. It is characterised for its theme, style and technique usually with bright colours and bold outlines. They mostly depict Gods and other mythological characters.
